Laghu Bhagavatamrta Lord Rama Padma Purana

Clear Evidence that Ramacandra Appears Once in a day of Brahma

Below is clear evidence that Ramacandra appears once in a day of Brahma (once per kalpa).

Laghu-bhägavatämåta

Part One

Çré Kåñëämåta – The Nectar of Çré Kåñëa

Chapter Three

Lélävatära-nirüpaëa – The Lélä-avatäras

Text 96

kalpa-avatäraù-appearing in each kalpa; iti-thus; ete-they; kathitaù-are described; panca-vimsatiù-25; prati-kalpam-in each kalpa; yataù-because; prayaù-generally; sakrt-once; pradurbhavanti-appear; ami-they.

“These 25 avatäras are called kalpa-avatäras because for the most part they appear once in each kalpa.”

Explanation: Text 96 (above) states that the list of 25 lélä-avatäras identified in Chapter 3 are considered kalpa-avatäras because they incarnate only once during each kalpa, with the exception of Varaha who appears twice during each kalpa and Matsya who appears fourteen times during each kalpa

Text 96 (above) states that the list of 25 lélä-avatäras identified in Chapter 3 are considered kalpa-avatäras because they typically incarnate only once during each kalpa, with the exception of Varaha who appeared twice in this kalpa, Matsya who appears fourteen times during each kalpa, Vamana who appeared thrice in this kalpa and Dhanvantari who appeared twice in this kalpa.

Supportive of the above assertion of Rupa Goswami is the following reference from Padma Purana:

“The legend of Lord Rama are mentioned in one hundred different renditions. If there is any difference amongst the different narrations, it should be attributed to kalpa-bheda – Lord Rama performing his activities in different ways in different kalpas.”

Below is Text 77 from the same section – i.e. Part 1, Chapter 3 of Laghu Bhagavatamrta –  which states that Lord Rama appeared in 24th Treta Yuga of Vaivasvata Manu.  We are currently in the 28th Kali Yuga during the reign of Vaivasvata Manvantara.

“Splendid as a new blade of dürva grass, and accompanied by Sumiträ’s two sons and by Bharata, He appeared in the Tretä-yuga of the 24th catur-yuga as the son of Kauçalyä and Daçaratha.”

The above verse in Laghu Bhagavatamrta is based on a verse in Vayu Purana 70.47-48. Matsya Purana 47.240,243-246 also gives the same information.
